Periodontal (gum disease) Treatment:
Periodontal (gum) disease is a "silent" disease, often going unnoticed until too late, particularly without regular dental checks to detect the condition in its early stages.
Symptoms may include bad breath, swollen gums, redness of the gum surrounding the teeth & painful or bleeding gums.
Early-stage mild periodontal disease (gingivitis) is easily treated & reversed with professional dental cleaning (& occasionally antibacterial agents). If left untreated, gingivitis can later lead to periodontitis, which is still treatable, but not reversible. At this stage the bacteria attacking the gum tissues delve deeper & begin to destroy the ligaments & bone supporting the teeth eventually lead to bone recession, tooth mobility (teeth become loose) & spontaneous tooth loss without treatment.
We conduct a periodontal assessment as part of every checkup visit & offer treatment for mild, moderate and severe periodontal disease.
